Function


In Bacillus subtilis, Spo0A plays a dual role in regulating the expression of comK. As the concentration of the response regulator Spo0A∼P increases during the entry to stationary phase it first induces comK promoter activity and then represses it by direct binding. Spo0A~P can release the comK expression by repressing AbrB. Spo0A∼P also activates comK expression by antagonizing the repressor Rok.
