Comment BB22OP T6SS1 is a functional antibacterial system. BB22OP T6SS1 was active under warm marine-like conditions (3% NaCl, 30°C) in the presence of surface, as evident by secretion of the hallmark T6SS1 component VgrG1. However, inactivation of BB22OP T6SS1 by deletion of the conserved structural component, hcp1, had only a minor effect on BB22OP's ability to kill E. coli prey during competition.
