Function


The S. pyogenes wild type and comR mutant resembled the S. mutans comR mutant, where no DNA was transported. The sigX reporter studies indicate that both comR alleles in S. pyogenes are capable of activating the transcription of the alternative sigma factor gene sigX upon addition of XIP.
