Description Mutation in atsR, a RetS homologue, increases T6SS-dependent growth inhibition of Dictyostelium discoideum by B. cenocepacia; T6SS activity was recorded as the ability of the bacteria to induce the formation of characteristic ectopic actin nucleations or ‘pearls’ around infected ANA‐1 macrophages. Numerous pearls, indicative of T6SS activity, were produced by macrophages infected with ΔatsR, ΔatsRΔcepI and ΔatsRΔcepIΔcciI. AtsR represses T6SS activity independently of AHL‐QS.
