Description Deletion of luxO or tsrA alone each caused a small but significant increase in transcription of hcp1 and the T6SS structural gene VCA0107, and simultaneous deletion of both genes (ΔluxO tsrA) caused a further increase in their expression.; Secretion of Hcp occurred in strains carrying both WT hapR and the hapR* mutation and, importantly, Qrr4 functioned equally well to repress Hcp secretion in both strains show that, in addition to functioning through HapR, the Qrr sRNAs also repress T6SS via a HapR-independent mechanism.
