Function


In vivo, we found that ComM was required for efficient comigration of linked genetic markers in Vibrio cholerae and Acinetobacter baylyi. In vitro, we showed that purified ComM binds ssDNA, oligomerizes into a hexameric ring, and has bidirectional helicase and branch migration activity. Using Helicobacter pylori and Vibrio cholerae as model systems, it was demonstrated that ComM directly interacts with the DprA winged-helix domain, and that this interaction is critical for DprA to recruit ComM to the recombination site to promote branch migration during NT.
