Function
RecX is a regulatory protein that modulates the activity of RecA, a key enzyme in homologous recombination. RecX directly binds to RecA filaments, inhibiting excessive RecA-mediated recombination and strand exchange during natural transformation. This ensures controlled and accurate integration of exogenous DNA into the genome.
